A keylogger is an item of spyware that is normally disguised as something else. Often people will send you files claiming the file is a cool video clip, or a free game etc.
However, when you download it, it turns out to be something much nastier. Keyloggers record everything you type and sends the information to another person (most likely the one who sent you the file!) So then they get your Habbo password, your conversations and even worse could capture really important stuff like your parents credit card numbers or bank details!
If you think you've downloaded a keylogger,
tell your parents immediately!. It is very important that it is removed.
You will need up-to-date spyware and anti-virus software to get rid of keyloggers. We cannot assist you with queries on how to remove keyloggers, trojans, spyware or viruses from your machine.
If you get the 'Out of Memory' alert then try the following:
a) Close your browser and other applications (such as word processor, spreadsheet, mp3-player). Now open your browser and try Habbo again.
b) Restart the computer. Often, when your computer has been in use for long periods, its memory gets full.
This means that there is something wrong with your Shockave download.
You should un-install Shockwave from your machine, download it
here (It's free) and re-install it on your machine.
If you keep seeing the 'disconnected' message, this means that the connection between your computer and the Habbo servers has broken.
Sometimes you might be able to speak or move about, but some parts of the hotel may not work - like your Navigator or Console. Try reloading the hotel (F5 or Ctrl-R).
If you constantly get disconnected it might be an idea to change your ISP (eg AOL, BT, Virgin Media).
This looks scary, but it's just the standard pop up from Shockwave. Just tick the third box and it won't appear again.
You need to delete your Internet cache and temporary internet files.
We can't help you with this, but search for how to do this on Google, and you will find many easy to understand guides.
We're sorry, but Habbo is made with Shockwave Director and there is no Director plugin for Linux at this moment.
The default browser supplied by AOL can sometimes fail to display Habbo properly.
You can still use AOL to connect. Simply minimize it then choose a different browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox to visit Habbo.
No - there is no way that we know of that a virus could get on to your PC from using Habbo
If there is a time lag between you typing and your speech appearing on-screen, it is most probably because either Habbo is either very busy or internet traffic is very busy today.
It may be full - check the Hotel Navigator to see. Full rooms will have a red "Go" button.
Try again later. People move around Habbo all the time so space will become available as they move to other rooms.
The boxes that say PH are called place holders.
These boxes show when Shockwave (the program used for Habbo graphics) cannot display what you have in our database. This could be for all kinds of technical reasons, such as your machine being low on memory, one of Habbo's machines being low on memory or even it could be the internet is very busy.
To fix this, just reload Habbo and all your furni should show in its full glory. The boxes show that all your things are safe, even if they cannot be loaded right now.
Don't worry, Habbo is working!
However, the pop-up blocker introduced in the built in version of Internet Explorer that comes with Service Pack 2 must be left to its default setting (Medium) or turned off. If you set the pop-up blocker to protect at High setting, you must separately allow pop-ups for Habbo.
A firewall is a way to keep unwanted traffic from connecting to you; there are two types of firewalls, a software and hardware.
The main reason why we urge you to have a firewall is because what it is capable of doing is monitoring and controlling the "gateway" between your computer and the internet. If by any change you happen to contract a Trojan from receiving an email or file from an instant messenger, this may save you by blocking it from communicating with the attacker, this is why we advise Habbo’s that have been keylogged too
install a firewall, but do not think that since you have a firewall now that you're invincible, because you aren't.
Firewalls will not be enough to completely stop viruses, spyware, keyloggers, etc. it CAN help with the forced downloads and worms, but if you continue to download files infected, the firewall won't help, because you are willingly downloading these files.
The software version of the firewall is a more graphical version of protection and monitoring although the only problem with this is that some bad programs are able to disable it.
Hard hardware firewalls basically block anything that is coming in and out unless that you've specified that it's allowed to.

To access Habbo, your computer must be permitted to make a connection to the Habbo servers using a special protocol used by the Shockwave client. If you are using personal firewall software or accessing the Internet from a firewall-protected office, it may block access to Habbo unless configured otherwise.
To access Habbo, please adjust your firewall settings, or contact the person responsible for your firewall management.
