Is it OK for me to give out my personal details?

It is never wise to share personal details with people on the Internet!

Sharing some personal details such as date of birth or email can lead to unscrupulous people stealing your Habbo account, which means that they can steal your identity..and your furni!

Other personal details such as your telephone number, postal address or name of school could make you locatable in real life and possibly place you in danger.

Always report anyone who is bothering you for personal information which you could be located by.

I've been 'hacked' - what should I do?

The first thing you need to do is change your Habbo password.

When you have changed your Habbo password, this should stop the person who has taken your Habbo account from accessing it again.

NOTE: Make sure to use a different password than the one you used before. It should be a mix of small and big letters, numbers and symbols (like !, %, @).

What should I do if I've had furni items or credits removed or go missing?

Unfortunately because it's often impossible to find solid evidence of a scam, Habbo is unable to refund items you've been tricked into giving away.

We do everything we can to make sure that Habbo is a safe place to hang out, but we always warn and educate Habbos to look out for scammers. Scamming is against the Habbo Way. All scammers are banned from Habbo on a permanent basis. For more on the Habbo Way click here.

An account being taken control of by another person is a result of some form of user error. This error could be giving out your details on a fake Habbo site or by telling someone your Habbo password. It could also be having an easily guessed password or not securing their password properly; like writing it down somewhere where other people can gain access to it.

Personal computer security flaws can also be a cause, like having a keylogger or trojan horse virus on your computer.

Habbo cannot take responsibility for user-error and so we are unable to return the furniture or credits to you. Feel free to take a look at our Terms of Service for further information.

What should I do if someone asks for my personal details?

If someone asks for information which would enable them to find you in real life, you should always use the Call for Help tool in-game to report the incident.

What makes a good password?

A good password contains a mix of numbers, upper and lower case letters and symbols like !, ?, and @.

You should never include personal information such as your name, date of birth or even your dog's name in a password as this information could be extracted from you in day to day conversation.

In addition you should never use a full word that you'd find in the dictionary as your password and simply change a few letters to numbers (e.g. f00tba11) as that will enable scammers to crack your password using special software.

Always use a different password for each account you hold on the Internet.

What should I do if someone asks for my password?

Habbo staff will never ask you for your password and you are only ever required to enter your Habbo password into the Habbo website.

If someone asks you for your password, do not give it out and report the incident using the in-game Call for Help tool.

What should I do if I think someone knows my password?

The first thing you need to do is change your Habbo password.

When you have changed your Habbo password, this should stop the person who has taken your Habbo account from accessing it again.

What does the SHUTUP button do?

All Habbo users are given a function which allows them to ignore another Habbo user's speech.

Ignoring may be done any time by clicking the Habbo you wish to ignore, and pushing the "SHUTUP" button.

For example, if another Habbo is singing Elvis songs repeatedly and you really dislike Elvis songs, clicking SHUTUP will allow you to block out the user and their attempts at annoying you with Elvis songs.

Of course, this is just one example and Habbos can to use the ignore button to block out users who are committing more serious offences like saying nasty things, swearing etc.

When should I ignore someone?

You have the option to ignore any user that you do not wish to speak with. If another user is annoying, pestering or upsetting you all you need do is click your trusty "SHUTUP" button to stop seeing what they are saying.

You should always send a Call for Help if someone is making you feel uncomfortable and you feel that you're in danger. A member of Habbo's community staff will be pleased to help in these situations. However, you have the power to make people who are simply being annoying disappear - the Moderators will not assist you when you can just use the "SHUTUP" button.

Who can I ignore?

You can ignore any user within Habbo, EXCEPT for the following:

* The owner of a Guest Room.
* An on-duty Moderator.
* An on-duty Habbo Staff member.

NOTE: Moderators and Habbo staff will be on duty if they have their "HABBO STAFF" badge switched on and visible to you.

How do I stop ignoring a user?

This can be done at anytime simply by clicking the user you are already ignoring and following the instructions.

You will automatically stop ignoring other users in the following situations:

* When you move to another public or guest room.
* When you reload the same room you were already in.
* When you go to Hotel View.
* When you reload Habbo.

What happens if someone ignores me?

If you are being ignored then the user(s) that decided to ignore you will not be able to see any of your speech bubbles until the time they decide to stop ignoring you.

You should not pester people who don't want to talk to you and therefore if you believe you are being ignored by another user you should leave them be and find someone else to talk to instead!

I've been asked for my "asl". Should I report it?

"asl" (internet short-hand for "Age? Sex? Location?") is something you will probably get asked on Habbo.

It's ok to ask, or tell someone whether you are male of female, your age and in which town you live, but you should never give out name, address, phone number or school etc.

You won't get banned for asking asl, or answering - but if you ask for more personal information, or give it out you may get banned!

For example to say "I'm Joe, 12 from London" is fine, but to tell someone "I'm Joe Bloggs, 12 from 52 Upper Street London N1" is way to much information!

I received an email or MSN message from Habbo staff looking for my password. What should I do?

Just like in real life, people online often pretend to be someone they are not, in order to fool others.

Habbo staff will *never* contact you via MSN, Skype or any other messengers - neither do we use emails with addresses from Hotmail, Yahoo!, Gmail or other web email providers.

We will also *never* ask you for your password, so you should never give it out to someone claiming to work for Habbo. If they ask for it, it's a sign that they don't work here!

You should report anyone impersonating Habbo staff to the company you've received the message through (for example, you need to tell MSN if it happens on MSN). We don't have the power to suspend people from other companies services. You can find out how to make these reports by looking at their help pages or FAQ's.

I've been logged out because I've signed in from another web browser, what is this?

This means that you, or someone else has signed into your account from another web browser/computer.

For security reasons we only allow you to be signed in to Habbo once.

If you have not logged in from another location/browser, then it is likely someone has got hold of your password. We suggest you follow the instructions here under the heading of "How do I change my password?"

Someone has made room names that say bad things about me. What should I do?

If someone has made a room which says something bad about you, there is only one way to report it. Do NOT send a Call for Help, or email Player Support as they cannot assist me.

The report a Hate Room, click on the room to find the room owners name then visit their Habbo Home page (you can do that by going to www.habbo.co.uk/home/username - replacing username with their Habbo name). You will see a list of their rooms, and you can click "
Show report buttons". You will see an option to report the room names appear beside the rooms in the list.
