"Yesssssssssssssss?"

Are you a "yes" person?

So you've probably heard about/seen that recent movie "Yes Man" starring Jim Carrey? If not, the basic premise is that the main character decides to say "yes" to everything over the course of the following year. OK - well to start, I hate Jim Carrey (well, not personally, I've never met him)..but I do dislike his films. However, this isn't about Jim. This is about the movies concept!

I've been saying yes a lot more lately - to people, to things, to ideas. I've been wondering if it actually does make life better when you say yes. Is saying "yes" the key to being really happy? Hmmm..the answer is yes and (of course!), no.

Yes: yes can lead to good things. I've had a lot of fun lately because I said yes t thinks I might not have done before. I said yes to a good friends holiday destination suggestion and had a ball. I said yes to trying out something new - and enjoyed it. Even down to basic stuff like food and drink..yes can be fun :-)

Sadly, yes can also be a disaster. History is littered with why "yes" is a bad idea. For example someone, somewhere said yes to the following:

*Let's open a new terminal at Heathrow. It'll all go swimmingly!
*You know, that Boris Johnson guy might make a good choice to send to the Olympics ceremony to represent London!
*Wow, flared trousers are this years in thing. Especially with knitted tank tops!
*Let's invest in some Woolworths shares. They seem like a solid company!

As we can see, all were things where a big fat NO really should have come into play! NO can be a good thing too, and make us stop from doing very foolish things. Recently we had a Let's Talk About Bobba campaign on Habbo which was designed to educate people about saying NO to giving out pics/Bobbas etc. In an ironic piece of timing, the week after I saw a site dedicated to exposing a Habbo who had sent rather embarassing, clothingless pics and video to her boyfriend. Digital pics and videos can be spread so easily, and you have NO control over who sees them, who copies them, who passes them to others. It's a horrible thought really! Times like that, I wish people really would learn to say no :/

So - are you are yes person, or a no person..or like me..a yes/no person? What have you said yes or no to recently?

(And..not that..euugh, I can read your mind!)

It depends really

I have my morals in tacts but sometimes I let them slip a little

Except when it comes to talking to my mum. I don't really listen, it's all "yeah mum." "yes mum". "alright mum". "whatever mum"

Hmm I don't think I've said yes today, but I usually say both so I couldn't choose which one I am.
