THINK! Road Safety

You're four times
It's hard to
More likely to
Concerntrate on
Have a crash
Two things
When you're on
At the same time
A mobile phone

So don't think you can use a mobile phone while driving, pull over!

£60 fine and 3 points on your license, who said talk was cheap? THINK!

Thats a result, just for talking on your mobile while driving, the fine goes up if you don't pay it :) it wont go away.

Watch for cyclists on the inside when you turn left. Don't squeeze past cyclists - give them space, at least half a car's width.
Don't dazzle cyclists - use dipped headlights, the way you would with another car.
Don't get annoyed when cyclists ride away from the kerb - they need to avoid drains and potholes, and be seen as they come to junctions with side roads.

Competition Time!
Our monthly comp goes like this: Post a road safety quote through the guestbook, on the 12th of each month I will pick a winner and it will be displayed on the homepage!!
Prizes go to the person who reaches the 1,000 Guestbook entry and 1,500, the more the entry the more the prize :) And if you get people to join you get furni! 10 people you get some norms, 20 seasonal 30+ Rares! So what are you waiting for?!

Here are some adverts you may have seen which promote the Think Road Safety campaign:

Be Safe, Be Seen
Why do we need to be seen?
We need to be seen to keep us safe and to let the other road users know that we are there.
Being seen is very important for our safety. Many serious accidents happen because drivers do not see other road users until it is too late

THINK! advice for cyclists
Be visible. Ride well clear of the kerb, wear bright clothing and always use lights after dark or in poor weather conditions.
Show drivers what you plan to do. Always look and signal before you start, stop or turn.
Ride a straight line past parked cars rather than dodging between them.
Don't jump red lightBobbapect sudden movements by cyclists, especially in windy weather and on bad road surfaces.

Dying to take the call?

Don't risk yours and others lives, so don't use a mobile phone while driving.

Drink Driving
"Hey, I better be getting home, you wanna lift? I've had a few beers but i should be OK to drive STOP!! Think. Don't put yourself and others in danger. Drinking decreases your reaction times, basically makes your brain slow, which means you are ALOT more likely to crash.
Think. Stop. Don't drink and drive.

THINK! Road Safety
This is the THINK! Road Safety room, :-) feel free to go in it and discuss and give great advice to people via the stickies :-)

Teenagers
Six out of ten teens have either been in an accident/near miss or know someone at school who has been. Teens get distracted when they cross the road by talking and having fun with their friends, chatting on the mobile phone, listening to music, or just thinking about something else.

We aim to make teenagers aware of the dangers of not concentrating on what they are doing when they step off the kerb with a new hardhitting campaign.

Speeding
You're three times more likely to die in a car crash on a rural road.
Don't assume it's safe to break the speed limit on rural roads just because there is less traffic.
The national 60mph speed limit should not be seen as a target speed.

Pedestrians
Pedestrians under the influence of alcohol are more likely to make errors of judgement and to behave in a manner that leads them to become involved in a road traffic accident, so make sure when your around drunk people while driving be extra careful. This also applies with young children, some don't know any better and they could easily just run into the road because they have dropped a ball so when theres children about be careful
REDUCE SPEED NOW! :-)

Always wear a seatbelt
A box of kleenex tissues will gain so much force, it weighs the same as a household brick at extreme breaking.
Now think how much a body might weigh with the force it might impact the front seats with.
It's not worth the risk- always wear a seatbelt.

New Drivers
If you are in your first 2 years of driving you can now only recieve 6 points before you lose your license.
One speeding ticket and one time caught on your phone will knock you right back to learner status where you'll have to retake your test and theory until your allowed back on the roads- don't forget your insurance would also rocket back up.
THINK! is it really worth it?

It's for any age really, especially those who want to drive and think its really big of them to go against the law. The adults should already no all this.. besides they are meant to be the maturer ones.

It's good but I don't really see how it's going to get the message out to adults on in sulake's own words " Worlds Biggest Hangout For Teens ". I doubt the sort of kids that kick cars play habbo and not many adults play it I hope.
