Remembrance Day

Make this your favourite group and wear the poppy with pride

Lets have your missions to 'Wear your poppy with pride'

Traditionally on the Sunday closest to the November 11th, poppy wreaths are laid on war memorials by local organisations such as the Royal British Legion, the Cadets, Scouts/cubs, Guides/brownies, St John's Ambulance, Salvation Army, sometimes local schools, heads of state and the Queen! The Last Post is played on a bugle followed by two minutes' silence and is then broken by "Reveille"

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

— John McCrae

Remembrance Day is on 11th November. It is a special day set aside to remember all those men and women who were killed during the two World Wars and other conflicts. At one time the day was known as Armistice Day and was renamed Remembrance Day after the Second World War.

Remembrance Sunday is held on the second Sunday in November, which is usually the Sunday nearest to 11 November.

result of the war.
4. Most of the fighting that took place across the Western Front were in trenches and stretched 475 Miles.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Remembrance Day is also known as Poppy Day, because it is traditional to wear an artificial poppy. They are sold by the Royal British Legion, a charity dedicated to helping war veterans.

Fact: The famous poem "In Flanders Fields" was written by a Canadian named
John McCrae who was a Lieutenant Colonel and a medic for the Canadian Army.
He tended to lots of injured Canadian soldiers during his time in Flanders
Fields, which inspired him to write the poem.

It's awful what happened in the war,

and save thousands of men's life.

    The thoughts by England given;
    Her sights and sounds
    Dreams happy as her day
    And laughter, learnt of friends
    And Gentleness
    in hearts at peace,
    under English heaven

    The Soldier
    if i should die
    think only this of me
    that there's some corner
    of a foreign field
    that is for ever England
    There shall be
    in that rich earth
    A richer dust concealed
    A dust whom England bore,
    Shaped, made aware
Gave, once her flowers to love,
    Her ways to roam
    A body of England's
    Breathing English air
    Washed by the rivers
    Blest by suns of home
    And think, this heart
    All evil shed away
A pulse in the eternal mind, no less
    Gives somewhere back.
