What Is Mears Irlen Syndrome?

Irlen™ Syndrome causes eye problems for many people because it alters the way they see things. These eye problems are based on their visual perception. The eyes are not the main source of the problem. The eye problems are caused by the way in which the brain interprets the visual information that is being sent through the eyes. Having Irlen Syndrome keeps many people from reading effectively and efficiently.

Symptoms

GENERAL PROBLEMS

• Strain working under bright lighting
• Difficulty finding comfortable lighting
• Poor concentration
• Lack of attention
• Strain working at a computer
• Glare from bright objects
• Eye strain
• Headaches from:- reading, computers, lighting, TV, supermarkets

READING
• Poor comprehension
• Skips words or lines
• Reads slowly or hesitantly
• Loses place
• Takes frequent breaks
• Avoids reading
• Eye strain

JUDGING DISTANCES

• Clumsy
• Accident prone
• Bumps into things
• Difficulty catching small balls

OTHER PROBLEMS

• Difficulty with number columns
• Difficult reading music
• Difficulty writing on a line
• Unequal spacing when writing

    I have a slight awarness of thios syndrome thts why i dont stay on the computer too long or i miss out letters when typoing , but im lucky i dont have it as bad as otherv people

    Mears Irlen Is Also Linked To Dyslexia, Autism and Many more Strands. If You need any colour Over lays or Tinted Glasses, you Could Have Mears Irlen.

    Its Only Been Recongnised In The UK since January 2008 and recognised in tha USA in January 2002.

    I Can Affect anyone, and ItBobbaent, You wouldnt realise someone would have it by looking at them :)
