The industry should add more appealing things on their DVDs if they want sales. Like ADV - They always put the Japanese dialogue before the English dialogue. Their subtitles are excellent and they also give you a ton of Japanese extra's on the DVDs. In each one of the six Utawarerumono DVDs, they gave a 10-ish page booklet full of interviews with the Japanese voice actors, staff and crew. That's the kinda stuff I want!
There was a big discussion about it at some anime convention a few months back and people from fansubbing groups such as Dattebayo and Shinsen Subs attented a talk with people from the industry (Funimation, etc). They basically talked about how fansubbing affects sales and stuff and how they would be able to get around it. But everyone from the industry basically said "it's there, and we have to deal with it."
and omg don't say that.
I bet Skip Beat gets licensed now
*touches wood*
The first episode of Skip Beat aired on the 5th. I hope it gets subbed soon, I jusBobbached the opening video. It looks a lot like the manga. I'm so happy. I can't wait to see it. :'(
Yeah, fansubs are always done better, it's a shame that they're all getting taken off the net because of stupid licensing
Ah, fair enough. I agree with you as well. Over half of the 'fans' these days actually know near to nothing about the series. Plus Manga Entertainment aren't helping with their Death Note DVDs. The subtitles for the Japanese dub are based on the English dub instead of the Japanese script, whats with that? The English dub is very poorly translated, by my standards anyway. Watching Death Note on the official DVDs, even in Japanese, seems so stupid because they've simplified the subtitles.
I don't hate Death Note, it was one of my favourite animes 2 years ago, then a lot of people started ranting about it and since I'm a nob when it comes to things like this I normally test their knowledge about it. They have none! That's what bugs me. I can accept a lot of people like it, it was decent when it first came out, I just hated to see it get the same treatment as my other favourite animes and then people turning their back on the original Japanese version
I watched the subs way back, I just recently watched the dubs (it was horrible by the way xD) And I agree with what Bongo has just said. There's Death Note fans, and then there's TRUE Death Note fans.
...and Amii is spot on. We say we like it, because, well... we like it. How hard is that to understand? You need to learn to accept others opinions.
Actually, It's the new generation of Death Note fans that say they like it just to follow the crowd. I saw Death Note way back in 2007 when it was still pretty much an unknown anime everywhere but in Japan. I loved it then and I still love it now. It's unfair that you lump all Death Note fans together, when you know they're not all like that. It's all down to opinion, most people love it, others hate it. You seem to dislike Death Note because of how popular it's become, which is stupid really.
hmm or maybe they say they like it because well they actually like it? ^^
Most animes are a billion times better but are still stuck in Death Note, Naruto and Bleach's shadow. People keep saying "oh it's brilliant, I love it" but know jack about it, just say they like it to look 'cool'
