These are just some of the games PlayStation kindly invited me along to preview, test out and most times crash and burn on in front of potential girlfriends and peers. Don’t fear, both the embarrassment AND the games stay clear in my memory.
Ratchet and Clank – A Crack in Time
While we all munch on turkey and stuffing, Ratchet and Clank are in deep trouble. Time is almost up for our interstellar duo as Ratchet discovers that his old enemy Dr. Nefarious has kidnapped Clank. This new instalment in the popular series will take it to the next level on the PS3. You’ll be able to bend time with a new time-manipulation gameplay, explore the galaxy in hoverboots and explore inner and outer space.
Definitely one to play while Dad watches the Queen's speech.
EyePet
Now I know what you are thinking – I love da dogs. Alas, my hectic London lifestyle does not allow me to get that Samoyed I crave for so much. Thankfully the PS3 can now give you all the pet magic without the mess (and hairs on the couch). Parents around the country will be singing its praises for getting their kids off their backs and I’m sure you will be happy to stick younger siblings in front of this to keep them away from your room.
On the PS3 you can choose your pet, dress it, raise it, feed it, wash it, grow its brain, exercise it – basically do everything you can do with a normal pet. You will not just see your EyePet on screen; you will see it in YOUR living room. Due to the genius use of a camera and your own hand action, you can reach out and touch your Eyepet. The game is smart too: if you throw a ball it will fetch it and it will roll over and make you scratch its belly if you rub it.
I know what you are thinking – what is the hook? Well, there are daily challenges and rewards for looking after Boris (or whatever you call your Eyepet). The game is seriously imaginative and endlessly creative. Your own creations can even be entered into the game.
All you have to do is sit back and enjoy!
Hannah Montana’s World Tour
I have amazing rhythm, fact. “A young Fred Astaire” so they say. And I proved it on the new pink PSP and Hannah Montana world tour bundle. Design the dances, stages and tour and you will get to go global. Fun on the PSP for any budding singing sensation.
LittleBIGPlanet
Upset that you cannot take your planets with you when not near your PS3? Now here is the answer on the PSP. The world of never-ending possibilities has come to the handheld in stunning style. It hasn’t lost any of its playability or iconic look.
You will set off as Sackboy to explore an incredible array of environments with 30 brand new levels. If they get too easy, then you can create your own using the Popit system. Can this game get boring?
You can then share your masterpieces online and have an ENDLESS world of bamboozling obstacles to explore.
LittleBIGPlanet will be PSP gold.
Invizimals
*WARNING Playing this game could break your Mum's favourite vase*
Fancy racing about the house, slapping the desk, blowing hard on your console and running around finding new creatures under every nook and cranny? Then get Invizimals.
There are invisible creatures all over the shot and only your PSP Camera can see them. You can track them down using the on-screen sensor, lay down your trap and capture as many of them as possible using different real life techniques.
Once you have your Invizimals, they can face off in battle, learn from their mistakes and evolve into bigger and stronger creatures. This is a top game for playing on your own or in multiplayer mode.
If you like trading in Habbo, then Invizimals could be your ideal PSP companion with unique trading possibilities.
A definite one to check out.
