REVIEW

Lost_Witness here to take you through the latest PSP game, LocoRoco 2. I managed to get my hands on a demo version of the game and have set about writing this review after spending an evening singing and dancing. Don't worry! I played the game at the same time!

Story
LocoRoco is a peculiar but incredibly cute creature that lives in a world inhabited by numerous other similarly cute creatures. Exactly what they are is not known but it's also completely irrelevant. They're cool, cute and happy - 'nuff said! This seemingly perfect world of joy and big smiles is being invaded by a band of shadowy creatures. LocoRoco must help his friends to banish these creatures and restore their world to it's previous jolly state. The storyline may sound simple, but it's effective in that the cute creatures you play to save are so helpless you can't help but feel sorry for them. Carrot obtained.

Gameplay
The controls are simple and make the game great to just pick up and play. Simply use the L and R shoulder buttons to tilt the entire game world and send your bubbly, singing LocoRoco tumbling and bouncing through the level. Press and release the shoulder buttons to perform a jump and get past obstacles within the level. Along the way you'll eat berries, collect nuts and munch on what appear to be flowers to make LocoRoco grow in size and number. It sounds simple enough, and for the most part it is, but with various obstacles in your path, highscores to better and increasingly difficult levels to beat, the game offers plenty of challenges. Carrot obtained.

Presentation
The levels are fantastically colourful and not only a joy to play through but also to look at. There was a fear of repetition in the scenery but this was proved unfounded as a huge variety of terrain is explored including, for the first time, underwater levels.

Sound
The music throughout the game is truly addictive and will have you humming along and tapping your feet. You may even get the urge to dance, like I did. Certain parts of the game also require you to contribute to the music by pressing buttons in time with the beat. Carrot obtained.

Overall
LocoRoco 2 is a fantastically addictive pick up and play game that is incredibly unique and offers a lot of satisfaction. The PSP is the ideal format for this game offering great, fun gaming on the go.

I give LocoRoco 2 the maximum carrot rating of 5/5.
